Joining the Club
Membership in the Ballarat Canoe Club is open to all. No matter your age or ability, there is a boat that will be right for you.
By becoming a member you will learn to safely paddle, and enjoy the many benefits that the club has to offer while improving your fitness, develop new skills and meet a group of friendly like minded people.
Club members are provided with any time access and can use any of the club’s boats ,paddles, change and shower facilities.
Coaching/support is on offer from a number of members from within the club who are fully Accredited
Members are also invited to participate in any club events and activities taking place, these range from activities held on Lake Wendouree to trips away to other waterways. Upcoming events are listed on the events page.
All members must first complete an induction session where accredited coaches will take a new group through all aspects of paddling safely, including;
- Basics of kayaking,
- Getting familiar with a kayak
- How to kayak safely
- What safety gear is required
- What to do if you flip the boat in the water
- Essential knowledge on kayaking on lake Wendouree.
The induction courses are 2 hour sessions held over 2 days, and are normally held from November to March.
