About the Ballarat Canoe Club

The Ballarat Canoe Club was officially established in 1988 with a handful of members. Over the years it has grown with over 200 current club members. The club has paddlers of all abilities and aspirations from your beginner through to your veterans and everything in between. Despite being named the Ballarat Ameateur Canoe Club, the club is mostly dedicated to kayaking, with nearly all boats in the shed being kayaks.

The club has a range of equipment for members to use which cater for various levels of ability and experience. These include the more stable types of boat such as ocean ski’s, sea kayaks, double sea kayaks and sit on top kayaks, to the boats built for speed such as K1, K2, TK1 TK2 kayaks. There’s also a full fleet of canoe polo boats. Members can also store their private boat pending availability of space.

The club also has a change room and shower facilities and a drinks fridge.

Events are held by the club from time to time, these may include group social paddles on Lake Wendouree, BBQ gatherings at the club, or trips away to paddle with other Victorian paddle clubs. See the events page ( hyperlink) more information on upcoming club events.

The club also holds canoe polo training in Lake Wendouree, and competes against other Victorian clubs. This is a fun and challenging sport to participate in, and great to watch also!
