Canoe Sprint.

Canoe Sprint is arguabably the best known comptetive form of racing having appeared in the Olympics since 1936. Australia in recent years have tasted success from Clint Robinson’s 1992 Barcelona Gold medal in the K1 – 1000m, to the more recent K4 gold medal of Jacob Clear, Murray Stewart, Tate Smith & David Smith in the 1000m at the London Olympics.

Canoe Sprint is raced over 1000m, 500m, and 200m for men, while woman compete in distances of 500m, and 200m. Competitors line up in a row and paddle the fastest possible over the set distance. Different racers use varying race plans although generally the start and finishes are fastest – especially over the shorter 200m distances.
